Dreamweaver April Challenge

Well the week long blog hop with the Stampendous team is over, but be sure to go back and check out the great designs if you have the time, they are wonderful! Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who left us comments, we really appreciate them!

This week the Dreamweaver Stencils April challenge continues with the theme of May Flowers. Iris are some of my favorite flowers and the ones in my garden are starting to bloom so I chose another one of Lynell's beautiful iris stencils the Long Stem iris (LL374)

Here are the simple steps for creating a beautiful card:
  • Tape the stencil to white cardstock with removable tape
  • Use the paste spreader (LM2010) to apply Glossy Blue Embossing Paste (DGBP)
  • Remove and clean the stencil, let paste dry
  • Place the clean, dry stencil back over the dry blue paste and tape down again
  • Use the paste spreader to apply Crackle Embossing Paste (CEP) over the blue paste
  • Remove and clean the stencil, let paste dry
  • Place the clean dry stencil back over the dry paste layers and use small stencil brushes to apply color to the image (I find a stippling motion works best on the Crackle Paste and just a little rouging to smooth the color)
  • Layer on black, green, and black cardstock
  • Add some dictionary paper and black twine around a green card
  • Add the iris and you've got a beautiful card for any occasion!
Here's a close up of the crackled iris

Be sure to check out the rest of the teams' blogs for more great ideas. Just click on their names below.

Happy Creating,
Louise

I am loving that you showed a close-up of the crackle. I bet it looks great with the blue paste as a base. Hey I did crackle today too. Another kindred spirit moment...

I'm so envious of all these flowers in everyone's gardens! Mine are a ways away from blooming yet (but there is lots of sun and warmth in our weather forecast - woo hoo), but it's lovely to see all the beautiful flowers in everyone's cards instead. Love the iris crackle - I have so much I need to try!!!

Love the card, you did a great combo of the old paper and then the stencil.

I am so glad you tried it on one of the more detailed stencil images. Kept thinking about it, but didn't know how well it would turn out. Now I know, it turns out beautifully. Love your card!
