Stamping Nathalie Style!

This week's challengefor the Stampendous Design Team is to share our creations using Nathalie Kalbach's Foam and Cling Stamp sets. Her Design Team will also be sharing, so you'll want to come back each day to see who else has a creation for you. Lots of her team are international.  PLUS, we'll give away one each of the sets to anyone, anywhere, and that will be from comments on all the blog posts for the week.

Here's a little video of Nathalie from CHA.

Today I chose Nathalie's wonderful Bird Foam Stamp, Cling Rubber and Stencil Set (NKCFS02) that was just released this month. These sets are fun to work with in a lot of different media.
This is how they look in the package. The top image shows the cling rubber stamp, the bottom shows the back of the foam stamp and you can see the stencil in between the two.
I made a "traditional" card using the cling rubber stamp, and used the stencil in the background.

Stampendous Supplies:
NKCFS02 Bird Foam Stamp, Cling Rubber and Stencil Set
CRL268 Cling Not All Wander
DWLL332 Dreamweaver Picasso Stencil
MPW811 Mixed Media White Paper

Plus:
MyColorCardstock Grasshopper
Distress Inks - Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain
Foam applicators
Foam Tape
Removable Tape

Instructions:

  1. Cut a 6" x 9 1/2" piece of Grasshopper cardstock, fold in half to form an A6 card
  2. Cut a 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" piece of white cardstock
  3. Tape the plastic stencil to the white paper with removable tape, use a foam applicator to apply the two green inks through the stencil, re-position stencil across the bottom edge until you have as many images as you would like
  4. Remove the stencil, add a little more of the two greens along the bottom and a little way up the sides of the paper
  5. Use the blues to rouge a "sky" area, use the Faded Jeans and Picasso to create the clouds
  6. Apply the Peeled Paint and Chipped Sapphire inks randomly on the Bird Stamp, mist lightly with water and stamp the image on another piece of white paper
  7. Cut out the bird, rough some crushed olive into the background and chipped sapphire around the edge of the bird
  8. Rouge just the edge of the background and bird with a little Walnut Stain ink
  9. Stamp the saying in the cloud area using Chipped Sapphire
  10. Adhere the background to the card front
  11. Use foam tape to attach the bird

I'm looking forward to playing with Nathalie's other stamp sets too!

Amazing!

I know I say this every month but...WHERE HAS APRIL GONE! We are moving to Cincinnati to be closer to our grandkids, so we've been busy packing up our house. The moving truck comes Friday. We are building a new house and will be in temporary housing by Saturday. Hopefully all my "necessities" will arrive as work on July Catalog begins! Needless to say, I'm going a little crazy!

But crafting always makes me feel better and this week's challenge gave me an excuse to stop packing for a while! The Stampendous Design Team is sharing our creations using Nathalie Kalbach's Foam and Cling Stamp sets this week. Her Design Team will also be sharing, so you'll want to come back each day to see who else has a creation for you. Lots of her team are international.  PLUS, we'll give away one each of the sets to anyone, anywhere, and that will be from comments on all the blog posts for the week.

I started with the Nathalie's Fashion Dame (NKCRS07) set. It's not one of the foam sets, but it was just released! I'm sure that counts!

"You're Amazing!"
This great set comes with three cling rubber stamps and a plastic stencil that I used in the background. It's like paper dolls, color the outfit however you want it each time you use it!
Stampendous Supplies Used:
NKCRS07 Fashion Dame
CRH325 Cling You Are Amazing
MPW811 Mixed Media White Paper

Other Supplies Used:
Memento Tuxedo Black
Copic Sketch Markers - E51, E53, E95, YR21, YR24, YR26, R89
Distress Ink - Aged Mahogany, Wild Honey

Instructions:

  1. Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the Dame on a 4 3/4" x 6 3/4" piece of white, stamp the skirt and jacket on scrap pieces of white
  2. Color with Copic markers
  3. Cut out the skirt and jacket
  4. Place the background stencil over the image (tape in place with removable tape) and use foam applicators to apply the Wild Honey and Aged Mahogany inks to the background avoiding the Dame
  5. Remove the stencil and rouge more inks in the background around the edges
  6. Stamp the saying with Memento Tuxedo Black
  7. Cut a 7" x 10" piece of Coordinations Wild honey cardstock, score and fold in half to form an A7 card
  8. Adhere the Fashion Dame layer to the card front, then add the cut out jacket
Here's a close up of the wonderful stamp and background:

Today I'm focusing on the adhesives they sent, and by focusing I mean they are part of the focal point of this bright design featuring the Dreamweaver Rooster Stencil (DWLG732). See if you can guess what I mean before you read the instructions!

EPA50 HT400 Embossing Heat Tool

Dreamweaver:
Plus:
My Colors Cardstock - Tuscan Sun
DCWV Corrugated cardstock - kahki

Brilliance Inks- Rocket Red
Splendor Ink Pad - Antique
Scrapbook Adhesive White Foam Squares
Removable tape

Instructions:
Step 1:  Fold a 7" x 10" piece of Tuscan Sun cardstock in half to form an A7 card
Step 2:  Cut a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of the corrugated paper
Step 3: Tape the Fleur De Lis stencil to the corrugated paper with removable tape, use a 1/4" stencil brush to apply the Rocket Red ink through the stencil, move the stencil lining up the design to fill the paper, run the ink pad along the outside edges to finish
Step 4:  Adhere the Fleur De Lis piece to the card front near the upper left edge
Step 5:  Tape the Rooster stencil to a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of red cork paper with removable tape
Step 6: Use a palette knife and paste spreader to apply a coat of Regular Embossing Paster over the image, remove the stencil and place in water for cleaning, let paste dry
Step 7: Place the clean dry stencil back over the dry paste and use 1/8" and 1/4" stencil brushes to apply various colors from the Antique ink pad to the dry paste, use the Picasso tool to help keep colors clean, remove and clean the stencil
Step 8:  Cut a 4" x 5" piece of the yellow Graphic45 paper, run the Rocket Red ink pad along the edges
Step 9:  Carefully tear two edges of the red cork paper to give it a more rustic look, adhere the Rooster to the yellow mat
Step 10: Adhere the image to the card front with double sided adhesive, use foam tape just along the bottom edge
Step 11:  Take the release paper off one white foam square, sprinkle the sticky surface with one of the Gemstone embossing powders, heat set, repeat with two more colors
Step 12:  Place the embossed foam squares along the bottom right side of the card

Foam squares aren't just for popping images! They make great embellishments too.  Micro glitter also works on them!

Here's who's hopping today!

We received some great adhesives products to use in our projects, PLUS this fun Denim Art Journal and Pennants Set from Donna Salazar Designs that is part of the Scrapbook Adhesive line! I've done the front design by pairing a pennant with the Stampendous Bird Stencil Duo set.
The 8" x 10" Denim Art Journal decorated with a pennant from the
Pennant Set, and the Bird Duo Stencil Set from Stampendous!

Stencil yellow ink through the stencil with a 1/2" stencil brush,
outline with the black fine pen from the stencil duo set

Apply Scrapbook Adhesive permanent E Z Runner along edges
Apply the pennant to the front cover of the journal
Tape the bird stencil on cream cardstock with removable tape,
apply a coat of Regular Embossing Paste
Remove stencil and let paste dry
Reverse the stencil and place on the back side of a piece of denim from the Pennant Set
Outline the bird with the fine line pen from the Stencil Duo set, cut out the pieces
Place the clean dry stencil back over the dry paste
Use a stencil brush to add some yellow to the beak, feet, breast, and flower,
use the Picasso stencil to shield the eye so you can add black to the eye
Remove and clean the stencil
Put adhesive on the cut out bird pieces and add them over the paste matching the design
Cut out the bird and flower
Here's how they turned out!
Apply white foam squares on the back of  the bird and flower
Remove the release paper and place the bird and flower on the cover,
add some jute "twigs" and a little bow
Add some sweet May Arts Ribbons on the rings
I know I'll be filling the inside pages (you get 6 kraft pages with the two denim covers and three rings) with more fun designs.  Watch for them in future posts!

Send A Smile 4 Kids!

Stampendous is sponsoring Send A Smile 4 Kids blog today. The design team is sending cards with an ANIMAL theme to one of the ladies listed on this page

These cards are for children who are inpatients in Children's Hospitals across the country. Cards should not have loose glitter on them (they can be embossed, and they can use stickles or glimmer mists, they can use embossing pastes). And there should be space inside for the hospital staff to write. They should not say get well or refer to being ill, and no religious symbols.

Here are some cards I sent:
