February Flutters Final Edition!

Is it spring yet???? It certainly does not feel like spring. We still have a lot of snow on the ground here and we're supposed to get up to 10" more this weekend! Uncle! Thank goodness the sun is getting stronger each day and hopefully we'll have a beautiful spring soon. Hope springs eternal as the saying goes.

The Dreamweaver challenge for the month of February  is coming to a close, but we're pretty excited to share our final creations of "February Flutters", meaning anything that flutters. Heart flutters, wings that flutter, breezes, sails, etc. So, come along for the ride and link your own "flutterings" to the Dream It Up! blog for a chance to win the stencil of your choice.
Meanwhile, here's my "fluttering" for the week featuring one of Dreamweaver's beautiful butterfly stencils and one of the die cuts.

LG706 - Monstera shape, LM121 - Butterfly
DD002 - Monstera leaf die cut

The background was created with the wonderful Monstera shape (LG706) stencil and Memories Mists spray on green cardstock. The Butterfly (LM121) stencil was paste embossed with a combination of some left over pastes on yellow cardstock, dried, then fussy cut. The three small Monstera (DD002) leaves were die cut from various shades of green cardstock. It has that warm "jungle" feel that I need right now.

The new die cuts are just wonderful. If you haven't seen them yet, flutter over to Stencil with Style to check them out.

Notecard Folders featuring the
Nest flourish stencil (LL587) and the Birdcage stencil (LL3012)
I featured this Notecard Folder project for Mother's Day last year (click here for detailed instructions) and will be teaching these in April up at Door County Rubber Stamps in Egg Harbor, WI. Details for the weekend workshops will be available soon. Both folders contain four matching notecards and envelopes and use Matte Black Embossing Paste with some Metallic F/X powders for a little color.

These make wonderful gifts for any occasion.

Meanwhile, here's my "fluttering" for the week featuring the new Zen Butterfly (LL3037) stencil.

LL3037 - Zen Butterfly
Close up of Green and Blue Embossing Paste with Crystal glitter
To create this project, just follow these simple steps:
  • Tape the stencil to white cardstock with removable tape
  • Use a palette knife to apply two dollops of Glossy Blue Embossing Paste to a paste spreader and one of Glossy Green Embossing Paste
  • Use the palette knife to gently swirl the two pastes together, be careful not to mix them too much
  • Apply the blended paste across the stencil
  • Save left over paste in a small container
  • Remove the stencil and place in water for cleaning
  • Sprinkle the wet paste with Crystal glitter, tap off extra and let paste dry
  • While the paste dries, use a 3/4" stencil brush and the clean, dry butterfly stencil to stencil some butterflies in the background of a piece of light blue-green cardstock
  • Layer into a beautiful card, embellish with a small bow
