Thursday Dream Scheme

Here we are at another Dreamweaver Stencils Thursday's Dream Scheme.  This week we have a sketch challenge designed by me. This design challenges you to create a card with a center opening rather than the standard side opening. Here's the sketch I challenged our Dream Team with:

And here's what I created for the challenge:

Can't you just feel that warm summer breeze!  I just love this Flamingo stencil (LM182) from Dreamweaver! First, use stencil brushes and pigment inks to color the design. Clean your stencil, place it back over the design and apply Regular Embossing Paste (Matte White).  Remove the stencil and sprinkle with Crystal Glitter.  Let the paste dry, while it dries it will draw some of the pigment ink into the paste creating a pastel effect.  Place the stencil back over the dry paste and add a little more color if you want the color a little brighter. To create this card I started with white cardstock cut 7" x 10".  Score in 2 1/2" from each side and use a bone folder to crease the flaps really well.  Add decorative paper to each flap. Ticket punch the corners of the flamingo layer and mount on a coordinating piece of cardstock. Adhere the flamingo to the left flap of the card  For the grass at the bottom, I used a QuickKutz Grass die cut. But the fun is just beginning, the inside is just as much fun as the outside! Open the flaps on the front of the card to this:

Stencil the "Happy" part of the Happy Birthday stencil (LM150) first, clean the stencil, then stencil the "Birthday" below that. Stencil a Flamingo on each flap of the inside of the card. Your Picasso stencil (LL332) will help you keep your colors where they belong, especially the black for the eye.
Hope you've enjoyed this week's challenge, give it a try. Now check out the DREAM it UP! blog for another great idea along with all the Dream Team blogs, just click on their names down the left side of my blog.
Happy Creating,
Louise

Oh thanks goodness Louise. I thought I had done the sketch wrong. The first blog I went to today was Pam's and I thought I had read the directions wrong. I LOVE THAT PINK FLAMINGO!!!! I should pay closer attention to the catalog!! Darling card. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week.

Wow! I could swear that I hear Jimmy Buffet playing in the background! Great technique on the coloring. I had no idea that the paste would pull the color from underneath. Fun surprises on the inside of the card. Thanks for a great sketch, although apparently I read it wrong. I didn't know there were supposed to be dual flaps (gatefold) on the front. It just said the top would be half the width. Oh, well...your way would have been easier to photograph! LOL

I ditto Pam's comments about the paste, directions and ease of photographing a gatefold card, and Jimmy Buffet. Since I'm a long way from sunny Florida, I'll keep looking at the card.

This is really great! How fun! I especially loved the flamingo surprise on the inside, and the cute plaid--oh, and the colors! I really enjoyed those colors!

Louise, love your interpretation of your sketch. The flamingos on the inside are a great addition. Would not have thought to use the plaid. Thank you for the great sketch and fabulous card idea!!

Thanks for the new twist on a classic design. I haven't thought of using that stencil in awhile...but a friend recently moved to Florida and I am going to CASE your card if it is OK. ??? Everyone interpreted this sketch so differently and I always love to see that! Thanks again for the inspiration!
