April...Brings May Flowers

Our Dreamweaver Stencils April challenge is almost over. You have until Monday, April 30th to submit your creations on Mr. Linky on the DREAM it UP! blog, or by emailing a photo directly to Lynell at lynelll@dreamweaverstencils.com. Our theme this month was April...Brings May Flowers. We've seen a lot of beautiful floral creations this month by all the team members, plus several people have joined our challenge.
This week I chose a more tropical image rather than a spring image. This one just says "Hawaiian vacation!". Don't you agree?

This is an older design called Heliconia (LL358). It is a beautiful version of this fabulous plant. Here are the simple steps to create this card:
  • Dry emboss the Heliconia on white cardstock
  • With the stencil still in place, use small stencil brushes to add color to the image
  • I used Memento Tangelo, Lady Bug, and Rhubarb Stalk on the flower and Brilliance Thyme and Ivy on the leaves
  • Remove the stencil and use the green brush to add some green around the edges
  • Tape the Friends (LM210) stencil to the front of an orange card near the right side (I taped over the "S" for this card)
  • Apply Glossy Black Embossing Paste
  • Remove and clean the stencil, let the paste dry
  • Layer the flower image on a small black mat
  • Use foam tape to layer the flower onto a deeper orange layer matted in black
  • Add two brads
  • Mount it to the front of the card
  • Send it to a good friend with a nice note inside!
Be sure to hop over to the other team member blogs to see what they've created this week.

Happy Creating,
Louise

Dreamweaver April Challenge

Well the week long blog hop with the Stampendous team is over, but be sure to go back and check out the great designs if you have the time, they are wonderful! Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who left us comments, we really appreciate them!

This week the Dreamweaver Stencils April challenge continues with the theme of May Flowers. Iris are some of my favorite flowers and the ones in my garden are starting to bloom so I chose another one of Lynell's beautiful iris stencils the Long Stem iris (LL374)

Here are the simple steps for creating a beautiful card:
  • Tape the stencil to white cardstock with removable tape
  • Use the paste spreader (LM2010) to apply Glossy Blue Embossing Paste (DGBP)
  • Remove and clean the stencil, let paste dry
  • Place the clean, dry stencil back over the dry blue paste and tape down again
  • Use the paste spreader to apply Crackle Embossing Paste (CEP) over the blue paste
  • Remove and clean the stencil, let paste dry
  • Place the clean dry stencil back over the dry paste layers and use small stencil brushes to apply color to the image (I find a stippling motion works best on the Crackle Paste and just a little rouging to smooth the color)
  • Layer on black, green, and black cardstock
  • Add some dictionary paper and black twine around a green card
  • Add the iris and you've got a beautiful card for any occasion!
Here's a close up of the crackled iris

Dreamweaver Stampendous Blog Hop Day 6!

All of this week the Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team and the Stampendous Design Teams have been providing some "Dream-pendous" inspiration for you, with multiple opportunities to win some fabulous prizes from both companies. Each day this week, you were directed from both the Stampendous Impressions' blog or the Dream It Up! blog to the players du jourfor your oohing and aaahing pleasure. Everyone is playing today for our final hop for the week. This is your opportunity to see how to mix and mingle your creativity...if you are a stenciler, you will be fascinated at combining stamps with your first love. If you are a stamper, you will be wowed at how stencils can add to your impressions.

Petals Background - LJ899
Cling Hobby Horse - CRQ159
Mother's Love - SSC1146
Here's another stamp that my fellow Dream Team Member, Pam Hornschu thought I'd love, and I do!! The Dreamweaver Stencils Petals Background (LJ899) stencil seemed like just the right amount of topsy turvy for this happy little guy. I ran the stencil and a piece of kraft cardstock through my Big Shot. With the stencil still in place over the embossed design, I used a 3/4" stencil brush to add Distress Ink Gathered Twigs over the image. Trim up to the edge of the design and run the ink pad along the edge. Layer the embossed piece onto the front of a kraft card. Stamp the Hobby Horse with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on smooth white cardstock. Color with COPIC markers. Swipe the edge of the image with VersaMark embossing ink and sprinkle the edge with Aged Silver Embossing Enamel from Stampendous, tap off excess powder and heat emboss. Lightly brush the white areas with the stencil brush and Gathered Twigs ink. Ink the  Happy Day (remember I snipped apart the Happy Mother's Day stamp from the Mother's Love set (SSC1146) on Thursday so now I can combine the words however I want!), and stamp on white cardstock. Trim close, brush edges and background with the Gathered Twigs. Layer onto a small piece of dark brown cardstock. Layer the boy onto a piece of white that was brushed with Gathered Twigs, then on dark brown. After the card is assembled, add glue near the bottom of the boy and sprinkle with Taupe Color Fragments from Stampendous.

Dreamweaver Stampendous Blog Hop Day 4!

Well the blog hop has been a blast so far with 3 days to go! We hope you've enjoyed our creations so far and will continue to join us until Saturday for even more great samples.
Each day this week, you will be directed from both the Stampendous Impressions' blog or the Dream It Up! blog to the players du jour for your oohing and aaahing pleasure. Everyone will be playing on Saturday, the 14th with our final hop for the week. This is your opportunity to see how to mix and mingle your creativity...if you are a stenciler, you will be fascinated at combining stamps with your first love. If you are a stamper, you will be wowed at how stencils can add to your impressions.
Here's my creation for you today. It fills the Dreamweaver Stencils April challenge of "Bring May Flowers" and incorporates part of a wonder set from Stampendous called "Mother's Love" (SSC1146).

The steps to create this are:
  • Tape the Iris (LL320) stencil to light purple cardstock using removable tape
  • Use the Paste Spreader (LM2010) to apply Pearlescent Embossing Paste across the image
  • Use a soft paint brush to sprinkle Metallic F/X Powders ( 05 - Goldfinch, 11 - Ivy Garden, and 14 - Purple Satin) over the wet paste, it will look kind of messy at this point, but don't worry, it will be spectacular at the end!
  • Remove and clean the stencil, set the image aside to dry
  • Stamp the Happy Mother's Day saying on matching paper with Archival Jet Black ink (this is an acrylic stamp set, so I just snipped between the words and stacked them vertically on a grid block)
  • Layer on dark purple then on dark green cardstock using foam tape
  • When the paste is dry (about 50 minutes), use a swiffer cloth to wipe off the excess powders
  • Trim close around the design
  • Layer on dark purple, trim again
  • Layer on dark green cardstock with foam tape
  • Tape the Large flourish stencil (LJ896) to a corner of light green cardstock and use a 3/4" stencil brush to apply Distress Ink Forest Moss ink to the design
  • Layer on dark green cardstock
  • Embellish with a pretty ribbon

Stampendous SSC1146 Mother's Love
Dreamweaver Stencils LM281 Baby Toy Border
My fellow Dream Team Member, Pam Hornschu knew that this stamp set would be perfect for me, after all, I recently found out I'm going to be a Grandma soon! So thanks Pam. and Stampendous. People who know me, know that I love to create Clean and Simple (CAS) style cards most of the time and these stamps lend themselves to that style perfectly. I used Distress Ink Chipped Sapphire to stamp the mother and child image (SSC1146 Mother's Love) on smooth white paper, then mounted it on a small layer of navy cardstock. The Welcome Little One is stamped with the same ink directly on the  small gingham print. I taped the Baby Toy Border (LM218) along the bottom edge of the gingham and used a small stencil brush to add color with the same ink. The gingham was added to a layer of navy cardstock. I added a small sheer white ribbon around it and attached the navy layer to the front of a white card. The mother and child image was attached to the front with foam tape. Use an Inkssentials White Opaque Pen to add eyes to the animals and axels to the wheels.
